My family took a two week trip to Korea in June of 2000. We visited several locations around the country including Seoul, the DMZ, Puson, and Kyong-Ju. This is a collection of the best photos from the trip.
This is a brief compilation of photos highlighting the Aurora series (1 thru 4) of solar cars built by the University of Minnesota Solar Vehicle Project. A more detailed history can be found at the Project's website.
While I encourage innovation just about everywhere, I must question the logic behind these new uniforms.
"Replacing many of the buttons with zippers and Velcro for easy access. . ."
While this appears logical, upon further consideration I would think that as a soldier there would often be circumstances in which I would both strive for silence and endeavor to reach into my uniform pockets. Velcro and zippers are very convenient in many respects, but in terms of silent operation they fail miserably in comparison to buttons. Perhaps, however, through the miracle of defense spending the civilian versions of Velcro and zippers have been hushed - now that would be a fascinating engineering challenge. [via Gizmodo]
